The Truth Is...
For ages and ages society, religion, and civilization have repressed the feminine, leaving us with hardly any clue about what true feminine power entails.
Feminine power comes from being able to choose for ourselves rather than letting society choose for us. Choosing our own path with confidence and not feeling guilt or shame for wanting to be true to ourselves.
Comparing ourselves to men and wanting to imitate the image of what a powerful man is leads us to ignore our feelings.
At a very early age us women are stripped of our right to choose in order to become acceptable, presentable, and fit nicely into society.
A women who knows what she wants is usually called demanding. If she's interested in having financial security she is called a gold-digger. If a woman doesn't follow the rules of society she is called a bitch.
It's time for women to stop being victimized by society and be our own self.
The highest value of a human being is freedom and if we're looking for world peace all the women in the world have to become free to choose.
To be powerful women we do not have to condemn men. It does not have to be one or the other.

Constructive Criticism
I love to do a lot of market research and I'm always looking at the work of other silk artists and fashion designers. I sometimes become deeply inspired by the color, design, and skill of artists and designers; however, I also become disappointed to see a lot of mediocre silk art posing as "unique", "labor intensive", and "high-quality". It seems to be that individuals practicing silk art become scared of stepping out their boundaries or afraid of creating something that will overstep the boundaries of the "commercial".
As artists we should have the courage and sincerity to give each other honest criticism and to help each other grow artistically. Giving each other sugar-coated criticism or praising something that does not deserve praise is damaging to our work and our skill growth.
I admire the courage and the effort that it takes to take up silk painting but I believe that it's important and necessary to take skill-building classes, give each other constructive criticism, and support each other by being sincere and honest.

Meditation Cushion
At Leyla Navab ArtSilk we are very fond of meditation. Our daily intention is to begin our day with at least ten minutes of meditation since doing it daily is of profound benefit. Through meditation a person is able to enter a space of sincere peace and self-love, which expands into everyday activities and interactions.
Leyla Navab ArtSilk designed the collection of Meditation Cushions in order to intensify the experience of meditation by providing a beautiful hand-painted cushion where one can be absorbed by the relaxing texture of silk. The colors are inspired by the seven chakra colors and the design is inspired by the beauty of nature.
